Splenda Sweetener
Today’s savvy consumers search for ways to eat a healthy diet low in sugar, carbs and calories. Attractive and functional packaging like Splenda’s new canister for its revolutionary sweetener made from sugar can help create confidence in selecting new and beneficial food products for the family.
When McNeil Nutritionals, a division of McNeil-PPC, Inc., introduced its new product to consumers, the challenge was to create unique packaging that would promote and encourage the wide variety of uses for Splenda at home. Dean Lindsay created a distinctive reusable canister that is stylish on the kitchen counter, with built-in functionality for pouring and spooning granules into beverages, on cereal or fruit, or for recipes, just like sugar.
The patented container is shaped for easy handling and designed for re-filling. If the consumer wants a more neutral look to fit into their home décor, the shrink label can be removed by pulling a tear strip from the PET container. The attractive transparent canister shape reveals the pure white SPLENDA granules, easily letting them see when it’s time to purchase a refill. The removable lid has two covered openings that snap open independently – a large opening designed for scooping and a small opening ideal for pouring and sprinkling from a directional spout. Because it uses the already-established package color scheme, the new Splenda package looks at home on store shelves next to the brand’s carton and single-serve packets.
