Snapple Hydro

It’s an old adage: When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. That’s what Dean Lindsay did in creating the new packaging for Triarc Beverages’ Snapple Hydro product – he took a disadvantage and turned it into a positive.

When plastic bottles are hot-filled, deformation panels expand and contract as temperatures change on the filling line. The bottles are designed to do this – it’s an operational advantage. But it also creates unavoidable “lumps” under bottle labels, which consumers often perceive as flaws. So Dean came up with a design that uncovers the deformation panels, intentionally showcasing them as part of the package’s look and feel. The shrink label at the top carries brand graphics, and the contours of the bottle speak for themselves.
